Everton 3–3 Manchester City • Premier League • Round 35 • 4 May 2026
Manchester City’s title hopes took a major hit after a dramatic 3–3 draw against Everton, with Arsenal now holding a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
City led at halftime thanks to a superb strike from Jérémy Doku (43'), having dominated possession and controlled the tempo throughout the first half.
However, the game turned chaotic after the break.
Everton punished defensive mistakes, starting with Thierno Barry, who capitalized on a poor back pass to equalize in the 68th minute. Just five minutes later, Jake O'Brien headed home from a corner to complete the turnaround (73').
Barry struck again in the 81st minute to make it 3–1, exposing City’s defensive fragility and sending the home crowd into chaos.
But City responded immediately. Erling Haaland pulled one back just a minute later (83') after a clever assist from Mateo Kovačić, reigniting hope for the visitors.
Deep into stoppage time, Doku delivered once again, scoring a stunning equalizer in the 97th minute to rescue a point and finish with a Man of the Match performance (rating 9.9).
Despite registering 20 shots and 75% possession, Manchester City struggled with efficiency, managing only 4 shots on target. Everton, meanwhile, proved far more clinical with their chances.
There were 5 yellow cards in a heated encounter.
Everton sit 10th with 48 points, while City remain 2nd on 71 points — but this result could prove decisive in the title race, as they drop crucial points with just three rounds remaining.
👉 A costly slip for City… and a huge boost for Arsenal, who now have the title firmly in their hands.
