Crystal Palace continued one of the most remarkable periods in the club’s history by defeating Shakhtar Donetsk 2–1 at Selhurst Park to secure a 5–2 aggregate victory and reach their first-ever European final.
On another unforgettable European night in South London, Oliver Glasner’s side showed resilience and efficiency to overcome a dangerous Shakhtar team that dominated possession and created more chances throughout large parts of the match.
The man of the match award goes to Shakhtar Donetsk's Dmytro Riznyk, who impressed throughout with a rating of 8.2.
Despite Shakhtar finishing with 17 shots and controlling 66% possession, Palace once again proved clinical in decisive moments. The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when a dangerous Palace attack forced an own goal from P. Henrique, sending Selhurst Park into celebration.
The visitors responded before half-time through Eguinaldo in the 34th minute, briefly raising hopes of a comeback, but Palace remained composed under pressure.
Early in the second half, Ismaïla Sarr struck in the 52nd minute to restore Palace’s advantage on the night and effectively end the tie. The goal capped another impressive European performance from the Eagles, who have grown stronger with every round of the competition.
There was only one yellow card shown in a match played with high intensity and a tremendous atmosphere inside Selhurst Park.
For Oliver Glasner, the victory represents yet another extraordinary achievement during his short spell at the club. After already delivering the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2025, the Austrian manager is now just one match away from adding a European trophy before departing at the end of the season.
Palace’s path to this moment has been anything but straightforward. Originally expecting to compete in the Europa League, the club were demoted to the Conference League following UEFA’s multi-club ownership ruling. Instead of collapsing under disappointment, Palace embraced the challenge and turned the competition into a historic journey.
Now, the Eagles will face Rayo Vallecano in the UEFA Europa Conference League final in Leipzig on 27 May, with the chance to complete one of the greatest eras the club has ever experienced.
