Raphinha’s second strike broke Feyenoord’s resistance for good in the Camp Nou downpour, setting Barcelona on course for a 5-1 Champions League opening-night rout. The Brazilian’s low finish from Pedri’s precision pass made it 3-0, and Barcelona never surrendered control.
Barcelona seize control through Raphinha and Adeyemi
Barcelona were ahead inside three minutes when Raphinha converted Lamine Yamal’s assist, giving the home side an immediate reward amid torrential, unseasonal rain at Camp Nou. Feyenoord were forced into a defensive contest almost from the outset as Barcelona kept the ball and kept returning to the final third.
Karim-David Adeyemi doubled the lead in the 22nd minute, finishing after João Cancelo’s assist. The scoreline reflected Barcelona’s command, but so did the rhythm of the game: the home side finished with 72% possession and 24 attempts, while Feyenoord managed four shots in total.
The visitors had little room to alter that pattern before the interval. Barcelona took a 2-0 advantage into half-time, having recorded seven more shots on target than Feyenoord would manage across the entire match.
Raphinha punishes Feyenoord after Pedri unlocks defence
Raphinha delivered the defining blow in the 57th minute. He ran on to Pedri’s pinpoint through-ball, which split the defence, and slotted a low left-footed finish across the goalkeeper into the bottom corner.
Feyenoord briefly appeared to have a route back two minutes later when Nacho Ferri scored from a rebound. VAR cancelled the goal after semi-automated offside technology showed Gjivai Zechiël had been marginally offside earlier in the attacking phase, preserving Barcelona’s three-goal lead and ending the moment’s potential to change the match.
Barcelona’s authority was clear in the final numbers. Their nine shots on target compared with Feyenoord’s two, while four corners to one underlined how consistently the visitors were pushed back. Each side received one yellow card, but there was no disciplinary disruption to Barcelona’s hold on proceedings.
Lamine Yamal and Gabriel Jesus extend Barcelona’s statement
Lamine Yamal added a fourth in the 77th minute, soon after taking Barcelona’s captain’s armband for the first time following a second-half substitution. His first career free-kick goal was a curled direct effort through an opening in the defensive wall and inside the post.
Sem Steijn scored Feyenoord’s consolation in the 82nd minute after Gonçalo Borges supplied the assist. It ensured Barcelona’s season clean-sheet total remains at zero, but it did not disturb the direction of the night.
Gabriel Jesus restored the four-goal margin in the 85th minute, just two minutes after coming off the bench in his second appearance for Barcelona. Yamal’s floated cross from the right found him, and Jesus guided a deft header past the goalkeeper for his first goal for the club.
The result places Barcelona second in the League Stage standings on three points after one match. Feyenoord sit 35th without a point, and the scale of this defeat leaves them needing a rapid response as the league phase moves on.
